स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मो भयावहः॥

sva-dharme nidhanaṃ śreyaḥ para-dharmo bhayāvahaḥ

अपना धर्म दोषयुक्त हो तो भी, दूसरे के भली प्रकार अनुष्ठित धर्म से श्रेष्ठ है। अपने धर्म में मृत्यु भी श्रेय है; पराया धर्म भय देने वाला है।
Translation · English
Better is one's own dharma, imperfectly done, than another's dharma done perfectly. Even death in one's own dharma is better; another's dharma brings fear.
