न्नायं भूत्वा भविता वा न भूयः।
अजो नित्यः शाश्वतोऽयं पुराणो
न हन्यते हन्यमाने शरीरे॥

nāyaṃ bhūtvā bhavitā vā na bhūyaḥ
ajo nityaḥ śāśvato 'yaṃ purāṇo
na hanyate hanyamāne śarīre

यह आत्मा न कभी जन्म लेता है, न कभी मरता है। न यह उत्पन्न हुआ है, न होगा। अजन्मा, नित्य, शाश्वत, सनातन — शरीर के नष्ट होने पर भी यह नष्ट नहीं होता।
Translation · English
The Self is never born; it never dies. It has not come into being, nor will it cease to be. Unborn, eternal, ever-existing, primeval — it is not slain when the body is slain.
